KFC style chicken (slimming version) part prepare the night before

Ingredients


8 Chicken Pieces, you can use bone in thighs or pieces of chicken of your choice (all skin and visible fat removed)

1 cup of buttermilk (3 syns)

spray oil

240g/8 oz of whole wheat bread, crumbed (4xHEb’s)

1 egg, beaten

1 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of oregano

2 teaspoons of garlic salt

1 teaspoon of onion powder

1 teaspoon of thyme

1 teaspoon of ground ginger

1 teaspoon of basil

1 teaspoon of celery seed

1 teaspoon of black pepper

1 teaspoon of mustard powder

3 teaspoons of paprika


Method


Put chicken in zip lock bag or dish, that you can cover, add the buttermilk, shake to thoroughly coat and place in the refrigerator overnight.

Then when you are ready to make your KFC style feast, the following day, you can go to the next step.

Preheat oven to 200c or 400f

Line a large baking tray with some foil and spray with spray oil

Add the breadcrumbs to a bowl, along with all the herbs and spices and mix thoroughly

Remove the chicken pieces from the bag (or dish) and throw the bag and leftover buttermilk away .

Add the breadcrumb seasoning mix to a large dish.

One by one dip each chicken piece in the beaten egg and then roll into the breadcrumbs, making sure each chicken piece is thoroughly covered with the breadcrumb mix.

Place the chicken pieces onto the foil lined tray and spray over the top with spray oil.

Bake in the oven for approx 45 mins, until the chicken is lovely and golden and cooked through.

Carefully turn over half way through cooking time to ensure they are crisp all over.

Serve chicken with sides such as coleslaw, air fried chips and KFC style gravy.
